The Tour of the Alps 2026

A race in the heart of the Alps featuring the strongest international cyclists

The Tour of the Alps - TotA is back from 20 to 24 April 2026, a cycling race held over 5 stages along the roads of the Euregio Tyrol, Alto-Adige and Trentino.

After an opening day starting and finishing in Innsbruck, the caravan will set off from Telfs, in Tyrol, for the second stage, finishing in Val Martello. The third stage will start from Laces, in Lower Vinschgau, and conclude in Arco, the town on Lake Garda in Trentino where the organizing company of the Tour of the Alps has always been based (and previously of the Giro del Trentino). From Arco, the peloton will head towards Trento for the penultimate stage, before the grand finale between Trento and Bolzano.

The Tour of the Alps is considered the perfect preparation for the Giro d’Italia, which will follow shortly after, from May 8 to May 31, 2026, also passing through Trentino, with the finish of the 18th stage in Andalo and the start the following day of the 19th stage from Fai della Paganella.

The history of the tour

The Tour of the Alps is a race that’s grown in beauty and prestige over the course of its 49 editions. Until 2016, the race was called the Tour of Trentino, but following this edition, it was decided to make the race more extensive and inclusive by adding new stages and routes in Alto-Adige and across the Alps in Tyrol, and so the event become a cross-border race.

Situated in the heart of the Alps, the 3 areas of Tyrol, Alto-Adige and Trentino together form one Euregio with a shared identity and values, including sporting traditions. It was as a result of this shared vision and approach to cycling that the Tour of the Alps was established, which features many tough climbs, significant height gains but at moderate altitudes, short distances and transfers reduced to a minimum.

Plus there is also the beauty of the region, with alpine landscapes serving as a backdrop for the race, which passes from cool mountain pastures to bustling residential areas. So, whether you enjoy it from your sofa or the roadside, the Tour of the Alps is an event not to be missed!
