Le Gallerie – History Museum

The Gallerie di Piedicastello in Trento, a unique and unrepeatable experience
  • 600 metres of great installations
  • Initiatives, exhibitions, studies and experiments

The first clue that this is no ordinary museum comes from the name “Le Gallerie”, which means “The Tunnels”. Get ready for an unconventional, interactive and engaging experience. Two road tunnels that were in use until 2007 have been converted into two modern exhibition spaces known as the Galleria Nera (Black Tunnel) and the Galleria Bianca (White Tunnel).

The Galleria Nera is 300 metres long and it contains large installations featuring media such as photos and videos that are all about the history and stories of Trentino. The Galleria Bianca is a venue for temporary exhibitions and events. The museum is in the Piedicastello area, under Doss Trento. If you would like to go for a nice stroll in natural surroundings near the city after your visit to the museum, head to the Mausoleum of Cesare Battisti (an Italian patriot). The walk takes around 30 minutes.
