This 80.7 km route is a cultural journey through Val di Non, ideal for cyclists seeking a ride that blends physical challenge with exploration. It’s the lowest-altitude route, making it accessible even in winter. With 1,900 meters of elevation gain, the path connects historic villages and rural landscapes, passing iconic landmarks like Castel Valer, the Sanctuary of San Romedio, the Laste Rosse vineyards above Lake S. Giustina, and the "lez" trails, old irrigation canals now perfect for gravel biking.

A journey through historic villages, castles, and rural landscapes, perfect for discovering the identity of the Val di Non.

    Roadbook

We start from Cles, descending towards Maiano, crossing the provincial road and taking the Roman road that leads to Tassullo, near Castel Valer. We continue through Pavillo to Castel Nanno, another perfect spot for a visit or some photos.

We go back up to Tuenno, and just above Terres, near the Tresenica restaurant, we take a steep forest road (with a short portage section) that leads to the aqueducts path. From here, we pedal on panoramic forest roads until we reach Campodenno. The descent leads to Quetta and Denno, and continuing along variants on country roads we arrive at Vigo di Ton, with the possibility of visiting Castel Thun.

We continue in the direction of Dardine, tackling short stretches with a steep slope. Crossing the countryside above the main road, we go back up to Coredo, to the lakes and finally to the Sanctuary of San Romedio. From here, a little-used forest road, with a short stretch of portage on a path, leads to Corzuel and then Romeno, where you take the cycle path to Vasio, just below Fondo. From there you take the Lez di Dambel, which with a flat route on single track interspersed with small bridges (narrow, to be crossed on foot) reaches Dambel before launching into a nosedive and climbing steeply through orchards and vineyards. The route ends by crossing the scenic Laste Rosse di Revò, which give their name to the winery whose vineyards you cross, and then through a steep descent on a concrete ramp and the bridge over the lake to return to Cles.

    Public transport

    Public-transport-friendly

Accessible by public transport. From Trento to Cles via the Trento-Malè - Mezzana railway line.

The cost of the "Single journey + FTM BIKE supplement" ticket is € 5.00 and covers both the passenger and the bicycle for all sections of the FTM railway – it can only be purchased on board the Trento-Malè Mezzana railway trains. The service is free (passenger + bicycle) for Trentino Guest Card holders. Seat reservation for bicycles is not available on trains. On intercity buses, bicycle transport is possible but is limited to the available space in the luggage compartment, where the bicycle must be placed by the traveller. It is therefore necessary to ensure that there is space. The availability of spaces varies and depends on the type of bus; on average, the transport of up to 2 bicycles is possible. Only standard single-seat bicycles are allowed.

    Directions

From the Brennero A22 motorway, take the Trento Nord exit and continue towards Val di Non on the SP235. Subsequently, continue on the SS43, and you will reach the small town of Cles, where our itinerary begins.

    Parking

The starting point is Cles, leaving the car in the free car park in Piazza Fiera.

When on the bike we recommend wearing a bike helmet and bringing a backpack with a waterproof jacket, sunscreen and a water bottle. It is also important to bring a repair kit: inner tube, pump, mastic, patches and a set of tools for quick repairs.
