While the provincial road between the two villages of Lauregno and Proves follows the deep groove of the Pescara stream and drivers see neither houses nor scenery, the described route, certainly a very old connection, runs about 200 meters higher, on the sunny southwest facing slope, with beautiful views over the serene rural landscape. The original old carriage road has modernized in recent times and also crosses long deserted forest stretches; but it is almost entirely flat, except for the final part, and passes several farms and the hamlet of Sinaplana, revealing the rural world of this secluded and quiet, little-known but charming area.

    Author’s recommendation

Before returning, it is worth visiting the village of Proves.

    Roadbook

From the center of Lauregno (1148m, hotel), always follow the appropriate signs (Höfeweg), which for a good stretch coincide with trail marker 2. Start on the road heading north passing the Wegern and Ungern farms; then proceed west on a path and lane through the forest to the Eckgenn, Untergenn, Mittergenn farms. After a long stretch in the forest, you reach the hamlet of Sinaplana with the Mittern, Blasi, Stangl farms, and further north to the small group of Nöder (1433m). Descending to the road and stream, you cross to the opposite side and to the Matzlaun farms (1466m). Continuing downhill south on the road (trail marker 3), you encounter several farms of Proves, ending the route at the church (3 hours 20 minutes). Return on the same route in reverse. Shorter variant: always follow path no. 2, which first descends steeply in switchbacks to the stream and road. From there, climb back to the Mittern farm, on the outward route, which retraces backward to the starting point of Lauregno (3 hours 10 minutes).
