Roadbook
From Cles sports field, you climb up to Mechel, taking the Lez and then continuing on Via del Monte. After a mixed asphalt-dirt section, you reach Verdé, from which a climb on dirt and concrete begins until you touch the Rifugio Peller.
From here, a challenging forest road leads to Malga Tassulla, a small mountain hut surrounded by wide pastures, where you can find some friendly cows grazing on the grass. Here you can take a break to contemplate the spectacular landscape around. Once past Malga Tassulla, you begin to go around the mountain, reaching the pretty Salare Lake and then begin the descent on a dirt road, rather steep, which will lead you back to the locality of Contre a Caldes.
From Contre, take the cycle path that runs alongside the Noce river and leads to the bridge near Mostizzolo, where it joins the main road for the last stretch back to Cles. For those looking for a generally less busy but longer alternative, it is possible to cross the bridge and head, still on the state road, from Cis towards Cagnò and, before reaching the town, go down to the right towards the Ponte di Castellaz and then, through the short tunnel, go back up to Cles.
Public transport
Public-transport-friendly
From Trento to Cles via the Trento-Malè – Mezzana railway line, from Mezzana you can get off either at Cles or Caldes, depending on your chosen starting point. The cost of the "Single journey + FTM BIKE supplement" ticket is € 5.00 and covers both the passenger and the bicycle for all sections of the FTM railway – it can only be purchased on board the Trento-Malè railway trains. The service is free (passenger + bicycle) for Trentino Guest Card holders. Seat reservation for bicycles is not available on trains. On intercity buses, bicycle transport is possible but is limited to the available space in the luggage compartment, where the bicycle must be placed by the traveller. It is therefore necessary to ensure that there is space. The availability of spaces varies and depends on the type of bus; on average, the transport of up to 2 bicycles is possible. Only standard single-seat bicycles are allowed.
