A fascinating educational path designed upstream of the village of preghena, through forests, apple orchards and green meadows, especially suitable for families. The protagonists of the itinerary are the fairies and witches (made of wood) who inhabit the forest, but also the story of the ancient works of time ago. To take a pram is not recommended. To take small children it is better to opt for a backpack as there are some ups and downs on the dirt road.

    Author’s recommendation

The starting point of this path is right in the centre of the village. it implies a steep climb of 100 m in elevation gain. It is possible to avoid it if you drive up the steep tiny road on the right straight after you enetr the village of Preghena. The lane turns right and after passing by an apple field you will find a big stable where you can park your car.

    Safety information

Please note that the practicability of the itineraries in a mountain environment is strictly linked to the contingent conditions and is therefore influenced by natural phenomena, environmental changes and weather conditions. For this reason, the information contained in this page may have changed. Before leaving for a tour, make sure the path you will approach is still accessible by contacting the owner of the mountain hut, the alpine guides or the visitor centres of the nature parks, the info offices of the local tourist board.

    Roadbook

The route begins in the centre of Preghena (a small hamlet of livo) where there is an information totem that explains the meaning of the whole excursion and illustrates the beginning of the itinerary. To reach the first installations it is necessary to climb to an altitude of 900 metres, in rapid ascent.

From here, fortunately, the route continues in the shade and is much more pleasant. Along the route are distributed 21 wooden installations each of which tells of ancient fairy tales, forest animals, landscapes and enchanted beings.

Shortly after setting off you will meet a typical "ciaretar". The route continues flat or downhill among wild animals carved in wood, legendary monsters, wishing pots and flying witches.

Once you reach the hill called "dos da mul" you can enjoy a beautiful view over the valley of Rumo, the mezzalone, cis and the Bresimo valley. Halfway along the route there is a very inviting picnic area with wooden tables, canopies and fire points (this area can also be reached by car from the village, by applying to the municipality of livo). Then we come to the "ciarbonara", once designed to extract coal from wood. From the last installation "i funghi del bosco" (the mushrooms in the wood) in "lec dai soldadi" you have to go down to the village, cross it in its entirety and from here return to the car.
