CIMA D'ASTA "OTTONE BRENTARI"
Information
CIN IT022142B8E9KGPVVY
At the foot of the highest peak in the Lagorai and on the edge of one of the deepest mountain lakes in Europe, is where the SAT (Association of Trentino Mountaineers) built the Rifugio Cima d'Asta Ottone Brentari in the early years of the 20th century. It was the first (and for many years the only) refuge in this mountain range, the largest in Trentino. Restored twice after damage suffered during the two world wars, the building was enlarged by the SAT in 1985 to meet the demands of increasing numbers of walkers. This is the ideal base for ascending Cima d'Asta, but the clear turquoise waters of the lake alone merit the visit.
Open
From 20 June to 20 September
Before leaving for your hike, always contact the manager to verify the actual opening of the mountain hut
Walks
From the refuge you can climb to the summit of Cima d'Asta via La Forcelletta, an ascent with a section of metal cable that takes 1 ¼ hours (difficulty EE). Instead the walk through Val Sorgazza for Campagnassa via Forcella del Passetto and Monte Coston takes 3 ½ hours (difficulty EE).
