MALGA CAMPO
Information
National Identification Code IT022109B8D362O2YB
Just above the village of Luserna, in a green, sunny valley, is the Rifugio Malga Campo, an old mountain farm bought by the local council from the aristocratic Von Trapp family and recently transformed into a refuge. Mountain bikers come here, pedalling their way along the “100 km dei Forti” trail, as do history buffs captivated by the events of the Great War, as well as families with children and simple walkers (with snowshoes in winter) in search of tranquillity and good food.
Tours
Walk along the Sentiero Cimbro dell’Immaginario (Cimbrian Legends path) from Luserna to the Rifugio Malga Campo to discover local stories and legends through the various works of art installed along the way. It’s easy to climb from the refuge up to Cima Campo, where you can see the remains of Forte Luserna, an imposing Austro-Hungarian fortress, currently undergoing restoration (20 minutes, difficulty T).
