MONTE LEFRE
Information
CIN IT022240B8JOCYLHFL
There are (at least) three good reasons to walk up the Rifugio Monte Lefre, above Ivano Fracena: to admire one of the most extensive views over the Valsugana from the viewpoint on Cimone (a few minutes from the refuge); to see the vestiges of the Great War in this place chosen by the Italian military as an observatory; to marvel at the Orco bridge (as you walk up to the refuge), which is in fact a natural rock sculpture. And for horse lovers (there’s always one) there’s the chance have a go at pony trekking in the Lagorai as part of the “partire a cavallo” (let’s go horse riding) project supported by the refuge.
Open
Every day from early June to 20 September
On weekends in April, May and October
Before leaving for your hike, always contact the manager to verify the actual opening of the mountain hut
Walks
It’s just a few minutes walk from the refuge to the top of Monte Lefre, where there are still remains of trenches and tunnels dating back to the Great War as well as exceptional views over the lower Valsugana.
