The Christmas parade
Experience the magic of Christmas in advance with Father Christmas and all his friends
There's magic and then there's magic: at Christmas, the kind that wraps around Moena is truly something else. And every year it all begins with a parade that lights up the village and launches the festivities in the most spectacular way. Guest of honour? None other than Santa Claus himself. Before setting off on his busiest night of the year, he's decided to drop by the Dolomites… and he won't be coming alone: his faithful elves will be with him, along with an extra sprinkle of Christmas sparkle.
Leading the way are the Snow Balls, ready to start the parade with a shower of wonder and smiles. The parade will set off from "Piaz de Ramon" (square) and finish in "Piaz de Sotegrava" (square), making its way along "Strada R. Löwy" and "L Vial". Along the route, Moena turns into an open-air stage thanks to the sports groups and associations from Val di Fassa, bringing colour, music and plenty of passion to the streets.
Taking part in the parade will be: the instructors from Moena Dolomiti Ski School; the young skiers of the "Monti Pallidi" sports club, nicknamed the legendary "Furie Rosse"; the promising athletes of S.S.D. Moena Ginnastica Fassa e Fiemme; the "Scufons del Cogo", in traditional costumes that tell the story of telemark skiing; the elegant "Pavei d'Arjent" skaters from Val di Fassa Artistico Ghiaccio; the lively young players of the Fassa Falcons Hockey Team; the "Enrosadira" Choir and the Moena Municipal Administration, all ready to fill the village with a festive atmosphere for everyone.
In the square you'll also find volunteers from ONLUS Bambi with candy floss and popcorn, collecting donations to support children with rare or chronic illnesses and their families.
And before the parade begins, from 4 p.m., you can already soak up the Christmas spirit with a horse-drawn carriage ride through the centre of Moena, among the lights, scents and decorations of the houses and market stalls. Departure is from "Piaz de Ramon" (square); tickets cost € 5 for adults and € 3 for children. And to keep warm while you wait, there's nothing better than a tasty sausage sandwich.
At the end of the parade, all participating groups will be introduced on stage in the "Piaz de Sotegrava" square. This will be followed by the official lighting of the Tree of Wishes together with the kindergarten children - a truly special moment of celebration and sharing.
