Chiesa di S. Pietro
The polychrome marble façade in neo-Gothic style, of marked Venetian influence, is the result of the 19th century re-building of the church by Pietro Selvatico (1848-1850), who received 20,000 florins from Earl Gasparo Bortolazzi for his work. The façade is divided into three spans having two double lancet lobate windows. Rising above it is the statue of St. Peter. The 15th century bell tower (1487) is monumental: pink limestone, squared ashlars, terracotta belfry, arched single lancet windows, rounded double lancet windows, dragon head gargoyles, clock in the tympanum, slender flat-tiled cusp, gilded sphere and a rooster on the crown.
The apsidal part with the tower, the two side doors (the northern one was bricked in last century), the classical votive chapel (second half of the 16th century) by Simone di Trento (Piazzetta Anfiteatro) are the most interesting parts of the entire complex. They reflect the 15th century workmanship decisively.
