1914-1918 La Gran Vera - The Great War: Galicia, Dolomites
Voices from the Trenches: the Great War lives on in Moena.
In Moena, visitors can explore an exhibition dedicated to the Great War in Val di Fassa, offering an opportunity to reflect on one of the most tragic chapters of our past and its profound human, historical and regional legacy.
Since 2014, the remarkable Federspiel-Caimi collection, enriched by artefacts from the Museo Ladin de Fascia and local collectors, has told the story of the Austro-Russian front, the war fought in the Dolomites, and the devastating effects of the conflict on the lives of men and women. Promoted by the Ladin Cultural Institute, the association "Sul fronte dei ricordi" and the Municipality of Moena, the exhibition extends over more than 500 square metres and is arranged in four sections: Galicia 1914, The Trench, Dolomites 1915 and War against War.
Through realistic displays, artefacts, dioramas, period photographs and original audio and video materials, the exhibition evokes the experience of soldiers in the trenches, on the Dolomite peaks and in the distant fields of Galicia. A temporary section periodically enriches the exhibition, helping to keep it vibrant and relevant.
The exhibition is recommended for visitors aged 8 and above.
