Porphyry House Museum

The Museum of Porphyry and Urban Furniture of the World wants to document, enhance and communicate to the general public the activities related to the extraction of porphyry

For over a hundred years the Valle di Cembra has been dedicated to the extraction of porphyry, a stone used in urban furniture and appreciated for its great resistance. The pride for this product and the value recognized to this activity by the territory, are the basis of the idea of creating the first Porphyry Museum and urban furniture in the world.
 "CASA PORFIDO" aims to document, enhance and communicate to the general public the activities related to porphyry extraction using state-of-the-art multimedia tools. 
Here you will have the opportunity to discover the ancient history of the porphyry and the socio-economic environment of the mining area in a fun and interactive way.
