Val d'Algone
It stretches out between the Ponte Pià gorge and the Gotro Pass and is bisected lengthwise by the River Algone. From a naturalistic point of view, it boasts an extraordinarily wide variety of plant and animal species. Roe deer can be seen cavorting at the bottom of the valley and on the outskirts of numerous clearings, while chamois gambol about the rocky slopes of Cima Vallon and Castello dei Camosci. It is also easy to spot marmots in the Val di Sacco. A few royal eagles have also chosen this corner of the park as their nesting grounds.
From Ponte del Lisan, climb up the first, rather steep and rugged section of the road before entering the fir and pine forests and making your way to Prà del Ban until the Ponte della Sega. Here the view will open up and the landscape becomes more varied, alternating between thick forests and Alpine meadows. The remains of an ancient 18th century glassworks plant can still be seen near Ghedina mountain-hut. From here, you can reach Algone and Malga Nambi meadows as well as Malga Movlina, a mountain-hut located on a natural balcony featuring great views on the entire valley.
