Safety information
As you can imagine, the rideability of routes in a mountain environment is strictly linked to current conditions and therefore depends on natural phenomena, environmental changes, and weather conditions. For this reason, the information contained in this sheet may have changed. Before leaving, check the route status by contacting the refuge managers on your route, alpine guides, natural park visitor centers, and tourist offices.
Roadbook
Coming from the south, the cycle path starts from the town of Malgolo (a fraction of Romeno), where there is a convenient interchange parking lot where you can leave your car and continue riding your bicycle.
Along the urban provincial road with mixed traffic, you reach the first section of the new cycle path, which runs alongside the SS43 state road, tracing the old railway line that once climbed from Dermulo towards Fondo.
With a gentle and steady climb, you reach the meadows below Romeno and the wooden bridge overlooking the state road that serves as a connecting junction for the cycle path loop.
Continuing to the right, you pass through a shaded woodland area to emerge into the small and sunny fraction of Salter. The cycle path crosses the town and, along urban and farm roads, reaches the nearby town of Romeno. Here the route leads to the characteristic Church of St. Anthony, worth a stop to admire the beautiful cycle of frescoes dedicated to the "Legend of the Hanged Man."
The path then continues through the apple orchards and reaches the fields at the entrance of Cavareno. From here, thanks to an extension of the cycle path, it is possible to reach the centers of Amblar and Don, where two further small circuits on dirt roads, technically more demanding, begin.
Continuing instead along the official route you cross a series of meadows until you reach the Cavareno sports center “Tennis Halle” and the historic center of the town. Leaving Cavareno, you find yourself again immersed in greenery and pass through the towns of Sarnonico, Ronzone, and Malosco. From Malosco, the route descends for a short steep section and reaches the nearby town of Fondo, famous for its route through rock canyons.
Now begins one of the most characteristic sections of the itinerary, that of the very green landscape of the Pradiei area, a beautiful uncontaminated stretch where among other things the “Dolomiti Golf Club” is also located, one of the most loved golf courses in Trentino and the brand new Bicigrill. The cycle path now continues mostly on flat meadows to return to Romeno and the aforementioned bridge over the state road that closes the entire loop. Once the bridge is crossed, you continue downhill to the nearby town of Malgolo, where you return to the interchange parking lot.
To reach the cycle path from Passo Mendola to Ronzone, you can comfortably start from the cable car parking lot and from here first turn left towards "Roen" and then immediately right following the signs for the cycle path and Garni Petra.
The route continues through woods and meadows to the village of Ruffré and continues straight ahead following the signs until reaching a roundabout. Here you take the first exit, and at the stop sign, you continue straight following the signs for the “Fondo – Romeno” cycle path, to the right of the cemetery.
Continuing along the road, you arrive at a junction. Here you take the cycle path on the right and continue through meadows, woods, and finally alongside the SS42, always following the signs, until reaching Ronzone. Upon entering the town, you cross the road and continue towards the “Orso Grigio” villa. At the end of the avenue, turn right and take the cycle path again on the left.
Continuing through the fields and following the signs for “Rose Garden – Ronzone center,” you reach the side of a sawmill. Here you cross the road and first turn left to take a sidewalk and shortly after right onto a section of the cycle path through the fields, always following the previous signs until you arrive at the “Rose Garden.”
