Roadbook
Difficulty: EE (experienced hikers)
From the parking lot, follow sign number 19 which, via a forest road alternated with woodland trail, reaches Malga Stierbergalm (1850 m).
Now the route continues through the beautiful pastures of the Maddalene mountain range. Leaving the hut on the left, climb to the right along the rocky path following sign number 12 until you reach, on a flat section of trail at 2100 m elevation, the overlying Sentiero Bonacossa number 133. At this point, some attention is needed. Do not follow path number 133 but continue ascending along path number 12 which indicates the way to the summit of Monte Ometto (Mandlspitz) 2395 m. The ascent is recommended for the more fit, as it is a steep and difficult path. In a short time, the route gains altitude by covering the last 300 m of vertical drop. Reaching the summit with its cross rewards all effort. From here, you can enjoy an incomparable view over the entire Val di Non up to Lake Santa Giustina.
The return route retraces the same path as the ascent.
