The woods that frame the road that crosses Val Cagnon, become a fairy tale-like scenario when the it starts snowing. This itinerary is feasible both with snowshoes and skis and isn’t difficult, given the gentle incline of the whole path.
<p>With its conifer and beech forests, small mountain farms, and alpine huts characterizing the landscape, Val Calamento is one of the most picturesque areas of Lagorai. And in winter, the magic of the snow cover creating an even more enchanted atmosphere.</p> <p>The closure of the provincial road at Passo Manghen (usually from late October to April) transforms this area into a paradise for ski mountaineering, snowshoeing, and winter trekking enthusiasts.</p> <p>This route is one of the best examples: starting from the Malga Baessa parking lot, you head into the valley with a route featuring little elevation gain, passing near Malga Casabolenga (closed in winter) to reach the scenery of Malga Cagnon di Sotto (closed in winter).</p> <p>After a packed lunch break enjoying the peaceful panorama, you descend along the same route.</p>
