The proposed excursion takes place at the eastern end of the long Lagorai chain, right in front of the Dolomite group of the Pale di S.Martino. The route is a loop touching all exposures, with a rather steep ascent in a couloir facing South (therefore to be done with settled snow and not too high temperatures), and an exciting descent on the North side, which almost always offers nice powder snow. The use of the lifts is not mandatory but allows saving 700m of elevation gain, making the route much more accessible.

    Safety information

Please note that the practicability of the itineraries in a mountain environment is strictly linked to the contingent conditions and is therefore influenced by natural phenomena, environmental changes and weather conditions. For this reason, the information contained in this page may have changed. Before leaving for a tour, make sure the path you will approach is still accessible by contacting the owner of the mountain hut, the alpine guides or the visitor centres of the nature parks, the info offices of the local tourist board.

    Roadbook

Take the Ces and Punta Ces chairlifts in succession. From the top station go down to the first hairpin of the slope, then put on skins and start climbing to the left, heading West, aiming for Valcigolera pass (if the traverse on the ledge is not safe enough, better to descend immediately into the valley and climb back later). From Valcigolera pass descend along the gentle slopes of the Buse di Malacarne to the lowest collecting point. Put skins back on and climb the wide couloir above, which becomes steeper at the top (45°) and may require carrying skis on the shoulder (crampons useful on hard snow). At the pass turn right, quickly reaching the Aldo Moro bivouac and continuing up to the main Bragarolo Peak. From the Peak descend northeastwards on beautiful slopes never too steep, reaching the couloir descending from Ceremana pass. Be careful to enter the couloir at the easiest point by turning right just below a steep rocky ridge.

Once in the couloir you can ski down as you like, bearing in mind that to return you have to put the skins on again and climb it entirely up to Ceremana pass. From Ceremana pass, after the first steeper section of descent, go down directly into the narrow collecting area that leads onto groomed slopes near Valcigolera hut. From the hut you can take a short lift that allows crossing onto the Ces slope, or follow a path through the woods (always tracked) that runs off-piste through the entire Valcigolera valley until it emerges one hundred meters below the starting parking lot.
