Selected alternatives for you
If the initial stretch of forest road (about 3 kilometres) appears to be a bit boring, the wide sunny slopes that you encounter when you get to Baita Pozze (altitude 2100m) are really ideal terrain for ski-mountaineering, offering you the opportunity to get to various peaks. The highest of these is Cima Vegaia, which lends its name to the entire Vegaia-Tremenesca subgroup of mountains.

    Safety information

Watch out for eventual snowdrifts at the sides of the ridge that leads to the forepeak.

Please note that the practicability of the itineraries in a mountain environment is strictly linked to the contingent conditions and is therefore influenced by natural phenomena, environmental changes and weather conditions. For this reason, the information contained in this page may have changed. Before leaving for a tour, make sure the path you will approach is still accessible by contacting the owner of the mountain hut, the alpine guides or the visitor centres of the nature parks, the info offices of the local tourist board.

    Tips and suggestions

Since the slopes are fully exposed to the south, you should carefully choose the period and departure times. It is ideal when there is firm spring snow (firn).

    Roadbook

Follow the road to Malga Stabli (alpine dairy), which goes up through the meadows above the village as far as the first hairpin bend. From here, a forest road branches off to the left and covers about 3.5 km (turn right at the fork in the road after about 1 km) as far as Baita Pozze at an altitude of 2100m. From here, continue along a flat stretch of the road as far as a signpost, and then head north-westwards, starting to climb up the obvious ridge that leads to the forepeak. Once you are on the ridge (altitude 2813m), you only have to cross it (northwards) along a short stretch to the real peak. It is often a good idea to do the last few steep metres on foot over rocks as far as the cross.
