Near Bresimo there is a Venetian sawmill, i.e. a sawmill powered by water. Venetian sawmills spread throughout Trentino in the 13th century, at that time one of the timber supply areas of the Most Serene Republic of Venice. The sawmill operates exclusively thanks to the power of water, conveyed through a canal above a paddle wheel.

Difficulty: T (tourist trail)
From the Baselga di Bresimo Sanctuary, continue uphill between the houses and, as soon as you reach the woods, you will see signs indicating Castello d'Altaguardia on the left. There is also a car park with about 8 parking spaces at this point.
Continue past the car park on a forest road that is paved in places. The road climbs steadily and then narrows slightly, arriving at the Castelbasso farmstead. Looking up, you will see the castle's thick walls. The road narrows slightly and continues uphill to the castle.
Here there are comfortable benches where you can stop and enjoy the view.
Retrace your steps for a few dozen metres until you reach the road that leads just below the castle. Here, instead of descending along the same route you took on the way up, you can continue slightly uphill and take trail 149, but to the left. The trail continues on flat ground until you reach some farmsteads, crosses a stream and then descends to join the cart track that leads to Maso Castelbasso.
From here, return to Baselga di Bresimo as on the way up.
