From Muncion to Gardeccia, among legends carved in the rocks

In the heart of the Catinaccio, between the Vaiolet Towers and the Larséc Cliffs, here you are in the heart of the rite and myth of the Dolomites. A hike to retrace the legends of King Laurin.

A journey that begins in the silence and quiet of the village of Muncion, and then delves into the heart of the mythology of the Dolomites. Destination: the basin of Gardeccia, which seems to have given its name to the legendary Catinaccio. "Ciadenac", meaning big bowl in Ladin, is the name of the wooden basin or bowl used to collect milk, fodder, or home-made dishes. It is precisely its shape that Gardeccia, nestled among the peaks of the Catinaccio on the eastern side, seems to be inspired by. Whether you reach it in summer or winter, with snowshoes or boots, whether you find shelter in a refuge or on a rock that once was a rose garden, allow yourself the luxury of time. And do not fear gnomes, giants, "vivane", or princesses: they are just waiting for you to hear their voice.
