From Muncion to Gardeccia, among the legends engraved in the rocks
In the heart of the Catinaccio, nestled between the Vaiolet Towers and the cliffs of "Larséc", you will find yourself at the very core of the rituals and myths of the Dolomites. A hike to retrace the legends of King Laurin.
A journey that begins in the silence and tranquillity of the village of "Muncion", before venturing into the heart of the Dolomites' mythology. Point of arrival: the basin of Gardeccia, which seems to have given its name to the legendary Catinaccio. "Ciadenac", meaning big "ciadìn" in Ladin, is the name of the wooden basin or bowl used to collect milk, forage, or household dishes. And it is precisely its shape that the Gardeccia, nestled between the peaks of the Catinaccio on the east side, seems to draw inspiration from. Whether you arrive in summer or winter, with snowshoes or boots, whether you take refuge in a hut or rest on a rock that was once a rose garden, treat yourself to the luxury of time. And don't be afraid of gnomes, giants, fairies, or princesses - they're eager to make their voices known.
