The path goes past the Doss dei Gustinacci, with remains of stone dwellings from 1300 BC. Then, after a short stretch through vegetation, it borders the peat-bog, a humid area with particular environmental characteristics. Here the Carera Lake formed around 15,000 years ago, after the last ice-age. The first Mesolithoic hunters arrived at the banks of this lake in summer and, in the late Neolithic era (the first half of the 4th century BC) other men established the first village on pile dwellings. Several villages were built, later gradually destroyed or abandoned, leaving today only the wooden piles emerging from the small lake. The remains of the pile-dwellings and other objects have been preserved thanks to the peat, that is, the accumulation of vegetation on the bed of the lake. The archaeological site of Fiavé is one of the 111 prehistoric pile-dwelling sites Alpine Range recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage site . The archaeological findings and relevant information on the digs and villages in Fiavè can be found in the Museo delle Palafitte (the Pile-DwellingsMuseum). The path continues after the archaeological site and, thanks to a wooden walkway, connects to a gravel road that passes close to the peat bog at the edge of fields. Another walkway crosses a marshy area where frogs and insects live, and then re-joins a gravelroad alongside woods and the countryside.
