Another circular route that passes by the Lauregno hut, in the Maddalene group. It is longer than the others in this area because it reaches the large panoramic plateau of Monte Ori.

This loop is a continuous series of ups and downs with ever-changing perspectives on the peaks of the Maddalene and the villages below. It alternates stretches on forest roads with stretches in fresh snow in the woods and passages over large sunny and open spaces, such as the panoramic Monte Ori.

    Author’s recommendation

Along the route, you will encounter the Lauregno hut, well exposed to the sun and open on winter weekends.

    Safety information

The route does not present particular technical difficulties. However, you must be familiar with the snowy environment to face it. Alternatively, we always recommend relying on the alpine guide in one of our guided winter excursions: book here conveniently online

    Tips and suggestions

Before starting a snow excursion always check the avalanche bulletin here!

    Roadbook

From the large parking lot before the second tunnel, take forest road no. 28 which shows directions for the Lauregno Hut / Laureinalm. Follow the forest road and its ups and downs ignoring the trails that cut through the woods to reach the hut.

At the junction behind the hut, follow trail no. 3 towards Monte Ori. The trail climbs through a dense forest where the snow remains soft and powdery because it is little exposed to the sun.

After the forest section, you emerge onto the large sunny plateau of Monte Ori, with an incredible 360° view that stretches from Catinaccio to the Brenta Dolomites.

Continue always on trail no. 3, which now descends into the woods until reaching the large boulder called "Pedra del Gal". Here take forest road 157 which gently climbs to the sunny peat bogs of Monte Sous.

From here, follow the tracks descending to the nearby parking lot.
