Starting from the fairytale lakes of Ruffrè, take the path along the stream under the shade of the forest and climb to Passo Mendola passing through a short piece of cycle path. Once here you can stop to admire the stunning view of the Adige valley with the Dolomites in the background. Then continue along the forest road crossing the ski slope and arrive at Rifugio Mezzavia. From here, maybe after a break, continue a little uphill, for the laziest 100m uphill, to take the path that leads back into the forest towards the east. You come out into the bright plain of Regole di Malosco and then continue through the forest and return to Ruffrè.
