Snowshoe hiking up Corno di Tres with panoramic views
A snowshoe hike with a medium level of difficulty, offering great satisfaction: 360° views from the summit of Corno di Tres and a warm welcome from the Predaia mountain lodge!
A safe snowshoe hiking trail that winds its way mainly up forest roads before reaching a smaller path in the final part of the route. As Corno di Tres is a very popular destination, the path is often well trodden. The departure point is the ‘Predaia Ai TodesCi’ mountain lodge, which you can reach by car along a paved road. If there is too much snow or ice, you can leave your car in the convenient car park at the Predaia pass and the Predaia lodge is about a 20-minute walk away.

From the Predaia plateau, you can park at the Predaia mountain lodge. Start walking along the lovely forest road, marked ‘503’, which has a moderate incline and takes you through a wood, until you reach the clearing by the Rodeza Alpine hut (1,570 m a.s.l.).
Carry straight on along road no. 503, also known as the “Italy Path”, which will take you all the way through the valley in the direction of “Sella di Favogna”. After approximately 2 km, you’ll reach a fork in the road with a sign pointing you in the direction of the summit. From here, you have a 20-minute climb up the woody ridge, with easy zig-zagging taking you all the way to the peak. Despite its modest altitude, this mountain offers stunning 360° views: ranging from the Fassan Dolomites to the Brenta Dolomites, from the Maddalene to the Monti di Vigo.
You can follow the same route to get back again.
Alternatively, you can also follow an easy ridge in a north-easterly direction, along path no. 500, allowing you to close your hike in a loop, with some stunning views overlooking the peaks of the Val D’Adige valley. After passing the ‘Corno del Cervo’ (literally, “deer's horn”), you’ll reach the pass at the base of Roccia Larga: from here, you head downwards to the left and then pick up path no. 526 which will take you back to the Rodeza Alpine hut.
Directions
From Coredo in the Val di Non valley, you can reach the nearby village of Smarano and from there, climb further following the directions for ‘7 Larici’. Continue in this direction until you reach the Predaia Pass, where you’ll find a large car park that is also used by people accessing the nearby cable car.
To reach the Predaia mountain lodge, carry straight on and, immediately after the Sores lodge, take the left turning onto the paved road that leads up to ‘Rifugio Predaia’.
