Difficulty: E (hiking trail)
The starting point is located at “Spiazzal dal Legnam” in the locality Ponti, not far from Lago Smeraldo near Fondo. After passing the wet area in the locality Ponti, continue along the forest road called Seio, encountering various historical testimonies of the intrinsic link between humans and the mountain territory: the ch’iaretar, the Malosco aqueduct, and a limestone gravel quarry. There are also many naturalistic features of the area: for example, the erratic boulders of Sedruna, monumental fir trees in the locality “Carbonare,” centenary larches, and finally the mountain meadows of the locality “Regole di Malosco,” a pleasant and famous locality known for its scenic beauty and the mountain huts offering typical dishes. Instead of descending the way you came, the hike proposes a loop, taking the descending paved road to the Chapel of St. Anthony, where you take trail 508 that leads out to Viale Alpino in Malosco. Go down the entire street, then turn right into Via Del Doss, which gently climbs towards loc. Fontanelle. The road becomes dirt and gently leads towards Lago Smeraldo of Fondo, passing near the rock climbing gym in Loc. Sedruna and reaching the parking lot.
