<strong>Visit to the Austro-Hungarian stronghold</strong>
<p>The Austro-Hungarian fortified military complex of the <strong>Asmara</strong> is located near the village of Ravazzone, just minutes from <a href="http://www.visitrovereto.it/scopri/territorio/rovereto-citta-di-culture/">Rovereto</a>. The stronghold has become visitable again thanks to recent restoration work carried out by the Schützenkompanie Destra Ades and the association "1 Territorio 2 Fronti." Trenches and walkways, machine gun posts and observation points are visible.</p> <p>During the Great War the site was a <strong>strategic point of the Austro-Hungarian defensive line</strong> that rose from the Basso Sarca towards Rovereto; its construction by the military engineering began in August 1914. With the outbreak of hostilities with the Kingdom of Italy, the garrison was on the front line operating in concert with the units deployed at the nearby strongholds of <strong>Nagià Grom</strong>, Faè and Camanghen. From April 1915 the Austro-Hungarians proceeded to arm the Asmara with <strong>artillery pieces and mine launchers</strong>.</p>

Directions
From the A22 Rovereto Sud motorway exit take the third exit towards Rovereto. At the second roundabout take the second exit towards Mori.- BY CAR: after the bridge continue for 1.5 km and then turn right towards the village of Ravazzone. Continue straight at the foot of the hill hosting the Asmara Stronghold and climb left for a few meters until you reach a park on the right where the route begins.
- BY COACH: after the bridge pass the Mori stadium remaining on SS 240. Take the first road on the right and park in Largo Villanuova (Molina di Mori). Then walk north on the sidewalk along the provincial road entering the village of Ravazzone. Continuing straight at the foot of the hill hosting the Asmara Stronghold climb left for a few meters until you reach a park on the right where the route begins.
