“Sentiero della noce”, the walnut trail, runs across the Bleggio area, where for centuries people have been growing walnut trees, the typical product of the valley endorsed by the Slow Food movement. The walnut is the heart of this territory, characterized by a picturesque scenery peppered with historic rural hamlets, and the itinerary reveals tucked-away corners and lanes off the beaten path.

    Roadbook

The ‘Sentiero della Noce’ starts from the Santa Croce car park, a few metres from the church. You walk towards the main road, 100 metres after the bend you cross the road and head right for about 50 metres and turn left. Continue straight ahead on the road until you reach a crossroads, where you take the road to the right and climb up towards the village of Bivedo. After passing the two churches a little further on, there is a fork in the road and you turn left, 200 metres further on you turn right and then left again. Continue straight on to reach the village of Cavrasto. In the centre of the village we find a small road to the right, continue to the crossroads and there take the road to the left, which in the blink of an eye will take us to Balbido. Once out of the village, turn left and immediately left again. Shortly afterwards, we will find ourselves in the vicinity of Santa Giustina, where we take the path that joins the road. A little further on we turn right and then right again along the dirt road, shortly after the river we turn left, a few metres further on we return to the road, keep to the left until the next crossroads, then turn right and descend until we reach the crossroads where the church of San Faustino is located. Go straight on for about a hundred metres, turn left here and continue straight on until you cross the Rio di Larido and keep to the right. In a short time you return to Madice, here you take the road to the right and, having passed the village, you keep to the left and soon reach the starting point.
