Today many apple trees and old walls stand at the mid-point of this exciting Tour 1442 over the „4 Dörfer“ (four villages). This mainly agricultural land offers many paved cycle routes and country lanes. With the occasional slope, the conditions are considered easy and the technical difficulties low so there is plenty of time left for you to wander and marvel at the natural landscape and places of cultural interest. High above the man-made reservoir of Santa Giustina, Cles Castle is situated on one of the highest points dominating the landscape. A little further south you will come across two further castles, the Valer and Nanno castles.

Check with the tourist office the opening times of these privately-owned castles (Castel Valer and Castel Nanno). You can go on guided tours at certain times.

    Roadbook

From Tuenno take the easy „Country“-Variant of the „Dolomiti Brenta Bike“-Tour towards Cles, the gateway to the Non Valley. From the centre of the village near the Piazza Alpini (grocery store) turn east and walk past the church. Head north on the main road (SP10). After an easy ascent past the Chemist’s you will reach the roundabout with Via Quattro Ville near the huge apple storage facility (km 1.3).  After passing the roundabout ride straight ahead through endless apple orchards. After passing the sports ground (km 2.3), continue parallel to the main road until you reach the village of Cles where you must be mindful of the inner-city traffic. After passing the fire station at the end of the village you will reach a roundabout, at km 3.8, where the cycle route ends. Continue straight on for about 500 metres on Via Alcide de Gasperi as far as the zebra crossing, take the narrow Via Giacomo Bresadola and continue uphill for 200 metres. Take Via Armando Diaz and follow it to the right until you get to Piazza Grande in the historic centre (km 5.0). The ensemble of houses of this picturesque medieval square (Corso Dante, Piazza Grande, 1. Maggio, Cesare Battisti) is well worth a visit as well as the stately buildings such as the town hall and the Palazzo Assessorile nearby.

Continue a little further on the northbound main street, Via Guglielmo Marconi (km 5.3), which starts from the large roundabout in Cles and takes you in the direction of the Sole valley. Turn left after about 150 metres onto Via del Castello, which goes up the hill. After passing the railway line and a slight right bend you will begin to see the majestic Cles Castle and Lake Santa Giustina below. Going straight on, follow the route south, past the Maiano residential estate and the small church of Saints Peter and Paul until you come across another trail back to the railway and the main road SS43 (km 7.9). Go straight across, first downhill and then uphill, over the agricultural estate through the apple orchards towards Rallo. At the crossroad with traffic lights (km 9.2) turn left onto Via di Santo Spirito. At the end of this, turn right at the T junction, onto Via Pinamonti and past the church (km 9.7). Turn right at the crossroad towards the school and at the next crossroads, at Bar Berti, turn left onto Via Borgo Manero (km 9.8), which takes you out of town and towards Sanzenone. In Sanzenone (km 10.3) we turn off and go left (onto Via Al Palu’) then immediately right (Via Garibaldi). Turn left in Via Busetti (km 10.6) and follow the road up to a T junction (km 10.8). Turn first left and then right into the agricultural estate and onto the road leading to the Valer Castle (km 11.1), which can already be seen from a distance. The route turns left and runs downhill into the village of Tassullo (km 12.0). You will pass through the centre of the village and past the town hall on Via della Santa and Via S. Vigilio. From the village, ride along the SP10 heading south, to Nanno. When turning left at the junction (km 13.0), take great care, because also the gravel country lane leads to Nanno. In Nanno (km 15.0), riding past the church then down to Via Centrale and Via Bergamo, you will reach the village store. Leave Nanno on the SP10 heading uphill towards the north, passing by Nanno Castle (km 15.5) and the church dedicated to the patron saints Fabian and Sebastian (km 16.1). Follow the road only up to just before Tuenno (km 16.9), where you can take an alternative route (Via Snao) which will take you directly to the village centre.
