Coston
Coston Route: pleasant and accessible route with a linear, well-marked ascent and several descent options. The first part offers interesting variations thanks to the changes in gradient, ideal for improving technique and control. On the descent you can choose between sections under the chairlift, return to the ski-lift arrival with off-piste, or continue to Baita Coston and descend along the main slope. Safe, scenic and very popular route even in the evening hours by ski mountaineers.

The ascent initially takes place under the cables of the old ski-lift, but it can also be traveled by staying on the now disused slope, which is characterized by several slope ranges that allow excellent practice in changes of direction and inversions.

The official trail, looking down the slope from Coston, goes up keeping to the right. You follow the cable line of the old ski lift to the terminus; from here you continue straight across the wide open flat. The red and white webbing on the trees is positioned exactly opposite the ski-lift arrival and guides the progression.

The trail continues always upstream in a linear fashion, following the abundant markings present. Throughout the ascent, the trail never approaches the chairlift, maintaining a minimum distance of about 50-60 meters; although visible in some sections, the chairlift always remains far from the trail. It continues maintaining this distance until it reaches near the arrival station, which is accessed by a final detour to the left.

The route is very pleasant and safe and offers several options for the descent:

a first option is to descend below the chairlift; having reached the change of slope, deviate to the right bypassing the deep depression and return immediately to the left;

from here it is possible to make a long diagonal turn to the left until reaching the arrival of the ski-lift used in the ascent, and then descend off-piste to the valley;

alternatively you can continue to the Coston Hut and descend along the main slope.

Please note that the descent on ski lifts requires the use of helmets and liability insurance coverage for the head of the family, as required by current regulations.

The route is also often used during evening hours by many ski mountaineers, keeping off the main slope.

It is mandatory to keep to the indicated times.

It is mandatory to keep the dog on a leash (high-visibility collar recommended).

Regularly consult the nivo-meteorological bulletins before leaving for the hike and make sure that the expected conditions are compatible with the performance of the activity.

Please note that it is forbidden to go outside the suggested routes and authorized trails. Outside the times and dates indicated on the slopes, mechanical means equipped with a winch and live cable are in operation!
