The itinerary is easy and presents no technical difficulties. The ascent is on a beaten road and the descent follows the route of the outward journey with the only variation of facing a gully of fresh snow descending from the summit to the Malga di Romeno.

    Author’s recommendation

Rifugio Mezzavia and Malga di Romeno are excellent refreshment points.

On the ascent, avoid the lift track and follow the signs that lead onto a specially groomed road 'for skialpers.

    Safety information

In case of fog and low clouds at the top it is better to descend following the outward track and avoid the downward gully.

From the parking lot of the lifts go to the start of the chairlift. Here follow the signs and take the beaten track to the right of the chairlift that goes up to the Mezzavia Refuge, avoiding the trail.

Continue past the hut on beaten track bearing marker number 500. The trail alternates between steep and flat sections and some slight descent. This leads to the Malga di Romeno hut.

Here begins the last stretch that with steady ascent reaches the summit of Mount Roen, with its great panorama over the entire Val di Non and Val d'Adige.

For the descent, follow the tracks that for a first stretch follow those of the outward journey but then keep to the right to reach the top of a small gully. The gully is not completely clear of trees and descends until it intersects the outward track just above the Malga di Romeno.

In case of fog or unfamiliarity with descents in untracked snow, avoid the gully and descend parallel to the outward track.

From the Malga di Romeno hut onward follow the outward trail entirely, in some sections it is necessary to push herringbone up two slight climbs.
