Whips, excellent craftsmanship in Taio: the museum is a faithful reconstruction of a workshop for whip handles and is a precious treasure trove of memories.

Taio is a small town rich in traditions and full of stories: the history linked to the whip museum is that of Tullio and Rocco, two extraordinary brothers who carry on a very particular craft and which was once a driver of the local economy. Class' 34 one and '45 the other, they keep the last whip shop open and alive.

Their history, or rather that of the Taio Whip Handle Industry, is now enclosed in a small museum that some volunteers wanted to create, as a treasure trove of memories for the new generations.

Everything in their workshop evokes the charm of an artisan history that is part of the history and memories of this country: the tools used to carve and shape the whips, the scent of worked wood, but above all to see Rocco and Tullio at work, without the aid of technology, with that skilful and artistic use of manual skills refined over time.

It's a beautiful story, isn't it? So beautiful that some Taio volunteers wanted to create an association called "Taio Yesterday not to forget" and above all the "Whip Museum". Recently opened and open to the public, the Museum is a faithful reconstruction of a workshop for whip handles and a precious treasure trove of memories.  The aim is to introduce visitors to the history of the ancient crafts of Taio and transmit to the new generations something tangible that witnesses and does not let the remote past of this community fall into oblivion.

Visiting the Museum it is possible, thanks to the presence of tools but also through video contributions, postcards and photographs, to retrace the history of the production of whip handles and more generally of the life of yesteryear.
