Segheria di Ortisè e Menas

The history of an ancient activity, the result of the symbiosis between man and the force of nature, comes to life in this small plant that has been beautifully renovated and is perfectly functional.

Located on the left side of the Val di Sole, at an altitude of 1,487 metres, the villages of Ortisè and Menas, not far from the town of Mezzana, retain their typical appearance unchanged over time. Located between the two hamlets, the "Venetian" sawmill built on the north coast of the Valletta River has recently been renovated and has recovered its ancient splendour. Still in perfect working order, the system operates thanks to the hydraulic wheel technology. Moving on the four levels in which the spaces are divided, you can observe the area of entry of the logs and production of the products, the perfect reproductions of the mechanical elements and the turbine at the base of the operation of the sawmill itself.
