Lake Idro - A dive into adventure

There are places that encapsulate different types of souls: Lake Idro is one of them. Ideal for families, with a Blue Flag beach, where you can bathe from June till September, the lake is also a very popular destination with sports lovers. In the morning the expanse of water is like a millpond, perfect for canoeing and rowing, while in the afternoon, with the wind steadily blowing, it becomes an arena for windsurfing and sailing. Mini boat cruises allow to admire the lake in total relaxation.

There is no shortage of rock walls for free climbing, and not far away are two paragliding launch sites.

The northern part of the lake hosts a rare and precious habitat: the “Lago d’Idro” nature reserve in Baitoni, start point of many trails in the green countryside, with wooden walkways, reeds and romantic views.

The place is also steeped in history and culture: on a rocky spur hanging over the water stands the old Castello di San Giovanni di Bondone - you only need fifteen minutes to walk up to the picturesque drawbridge.
